When Persol 714 was introduced in the 1960s, it was a revolutionary piece of eyewear design: the original folding glasses. Persol artisans took the wide-lens shape of the 649, which by then was already a hit, and created an innovative folding system, for style you can slip into a pocket.

This model requires ten additional manufacturing steps compared to the standard ones, to ensure a smooth fold. Convenience built last over the years, ready in your pocket for any adventure. One Hollywood icon in particular saw the value of the style and helped it become what it is today.

The 714 owes its fame to Steve McQueen™, who wore them on set when filming The Thomas Crown Affair. The decision was made to integrate the style in the film, and it soon became popular among the public for its unmatchable style and convenience.
